WITH her demure looks, actress Rooney Mara was transformed from the leather-wearing, motorbike-riding character she plays in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo when she arrived last night for the movie’s London premiere.
Dressed in a white lace dress reminiscent of a wedding gown, the 26-year-old star paid no heed to the biting cold December air in Leicester Square.
Possibly as homage to her role as the anti-social and damaged Lisbeth Salander, she kept her red carpet look a little edgy by sporting a severe fringe and dyed black hair.
Her co-star Daniel Craig, 43, who plays journalist-turned-detective Mikael Blomkvist in the gripping crime thriller, wrapped up warm for the event in a leather jacket while sporting a face full of stubble.
In the film, based on the first part of the best-selling trilogy by late Swedish author Stieg Larsson, Salander is enlisted by Blomkvist to help solve a decades-old murder.
Scheduled for a Boxing Day release in Britain, the film was directed by David Fincher who was behind Oscar winner The Social Network as well as Fight Club and Se7en. It also stars Christopher Plummer and Robin Wright.
Speaking at the premiere, Craig said the certificate 18 film stays true to the hard-hitting book with its disturbing adult themes.
The Bond star said: “I don’t think we could have done the film unless it had been as violent as it is and what David’s done is tricky.
“If it had been sanitised and made certificate 13 for a mass audience, it wouldn’t have worked. It’s an adult movie.”
