David Fincher has revealed he may consider shooting the other two films in the Millennium trilogy back-to-back.
The Social Network director – who releases the first of the movies, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, this month – was asked if he would consider filming the rest of the Stieg Larsson series at the same time.
He told Collider: “Yes, the second two books are very much one story and it doesn’t seem prudent to me to go to Sweden for a year, come back for a year, put out the second one. Go to Sweden for a year. Come back for a year.
“I don’t think Rooney (Mara, who plays lead female Lisbeth Salander) wants to be doing this four years from now. So I think that would be crazy, especially given the sense that it’s really one story that’s kind of (split) in the middle.”
Rooney, 26, has previously admitted that shooting the film, which also stars Daniel Craig as journalist Mikael Blomkvist, took its toll on her physically and mentally.
“The physical challenge was probably even more shocking than the emotional, because there were lots of days that we were doing stunts, with many takes, over and over. It was an amazing experience and I know that I have learnt so much. I am just not quite sure what that is yet,” she said.
