Faces of Kibera is a New York State nonprofit organization that is dedicated to helping the rising number of orphans in Kibera, Kenya. Kibera is the largest slum in East Africa. With an estimated one million people concentrated in one square mile, the living conditions in Kibera are desperate for all, and particularly difficult for the children. Our goal is to push back against this tide of poverty, illness and deprivation by creating and supporting a community-based facility outside of Kibera to provide care, education and services to the orphans of Kibera. THE Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute will stage a tribute to the punk movement next May. The Punk: Chaos to Couture exhibition will be launched on May 6 2013 at the annual Costume Institute Gala – otherwise known as the Met Ball.
The installation, which will be open to the public from May 9 to August 11, will focus on haute couture and ready-to-wear creations inspired by the punk era. Rooney Mara, Riccardo Tisci, Anna Wintour and Lauren Santo Domingo will act as co-chairs for the exhibition.
“Punk broke all the rules when it came to fashion, and everything became possible after punk,” said Andrew Bolton, Costume Institute curator. “Its impact on high fashion became so enormous, and continues at the same time.”
The exhibition will feature over 100 Punk-influenced pieces of both men’s and women’s fashion, including the iconic Gianni Versace safety-pin dress worn by Elizabeth Hurley back in 1994.
“Primarily the biggest legacy is DIY and deconstruction,” said Bolton. “Punk has had one of the biggest influences on fashion over the last 30 years, and sometimes people wear punk without even realising it.”
Other designers to be featured in the exhibition include Alexander McQueen, Dolce & Gabbana, Rodarte, Marc Jacobs and Alexander Wang – to name but a few. We can’t wait to see what this means for the red carpet dresses at the 2013 Met Ball.

When it was first announced that Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig would be starring in David Fincher’s English language remake of the Swedish hit THE GIRL WITH THEDRAGON TATTOO, the first question on everyone’s mind was when/if they would start filming the sequels. The original trilogy starred Noomi Rapace and Michael Nyqvist and covered all three of Stieg Larsson’s novels. Although the original films were an international sensation, Fincher’s film didn’t inspire the obsession in America that the Swedish version did around the world. Personally, I thought it was fantastic and was one of my favorite films of the year, but the only thing that matters these days is a film’s box office return and in that regard, $102 million, although successful, is on the border as to whether or not a sequel is a done deal.
But for those of you that are looking forward to seeing Rooney Mara back in action as Lisbeth Salander, you’re in luck.  EW is reporting that screenwriter Steven Zaillian is hard at work on the script for THE GIRL WHO PLAYED WITH FIRE and the film might see the light of day in 2014. To date, this is the best indication we’ve gotten that Sony will move forward with the sequel. And don’t worry about Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig; both of them are already signed on for the trilogy. The only question is whether or not David Fincher will return to the director’s chair.

Channing Tatum may have battled evil ninjas (G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) and Celtic tribesmen (The Eagle) on screen, but in real life, all it takes is an intense skinny lady to terrify the 32-year-old.
In particular, one intense skinny lady: his costar in upcoming film The Bitter Pill, Rooney Mara.
“She’s the most mousy and terrifying person I’ve ever met,” Tatum told E! News of his experience working with the The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo star. “She’s such a little introvert.”
But, like all actors who have to occasionally kick-ass on the big screen, Tatum is a pro at hiding his internal fright and, having gotten to know the actress a bit better, now claims Mara is “also the sweetest little thing you’ve ever met.”
In the Steven Soderbergh-directed Bitter Pill, Tatum plays a stockbroker who returns home after serving four years in prison for a white collar crime to find his wife (Mara) suffering from depression.
“Rooney can get this glazed over like look in her eyes that you’re like, ‘Oh, God—I hope I never see that coming my way,’” Tatum says of his 27-year-old costar. “She’s truly one of the most fabulous actresses. She has a skill set that I have never seen with the actresses I’ve worked with. Everybody’s different and have the things that they’re strong at, but she’s special, for sure.”
Asked by E! whether we’ll have the pleasure of seeing Mara’s glazed-over look during the couple’s onscreen sex scenes, the upcoming star of Magic Mike quipped, “There will be hot scenes in The Bitter Pill—during the end credits!”

Rooney Mara is attached to star in a big-screen adaptation of Colm Toibin’s best-selling novel Brooklyn penned by British novelist and screenwriter Nick Hornby.
Mara will play the lead in Toibin’s story set in Brooklyn and Ireland in the early 1950s about a young woman torn between her family in Ireland and the American who wins her heart.
The project is being put together by the team that brought audiences the Carey Mulligan-led An Education, with producers Finola Dwyer and Amanda Posey formalizing their working relationship in Posey’s Wildgaze Films.
Dwyer joins Posey’s Wildgaze Films as a partner while novelist and screenwriter Nick Hornby, who is also Posey’s husband, will “take a hands off role” in the new look set-up. • Read full story »
